Institute of Technology Tallaght in partnership with the National Adult Literacy Agency hosted an event aimed at those who are involved in numeracy teaching and learning in adult basic education ‘ Sharing innovative numeracy teaching and learning: Adult, youth and community showcase (click here to download programme).
Some of the ideas and teaching practices showcased by numeracy tutors and learners from around the country included using numeracy in: art, photography, architecture, money and exchange, fossils, botany, kinaesthetic and visual ways, ‘maths for fun’, family maths, a numeracy screening tool, maths in everyday life, to support curriculum development in numeracy and solving maths-based and everyday design related numeracy problems.
