On Friday 5th December, Christmas came a little early to some First Years in St. Kevin’s Community College with the arrival of Ciaran O’Sullivan from IT Tallaght and Miriam McNamee from the South Dublin County Partnership who had arrived to judge the Maths Eyes Poster Competition. There were 20 entries from 1st Year with a varied choice of subjects ranging from trendy schoolbags, cute kittens, comfy furniture and children’s toys. Our Librarian Mr. Cassidy kindly gave us use of the School Library to host the event and all the entries were displayed around the Library for all to see. Many thanks to Miriam for enlarging all the photos and making them into posters. Ciaran went through all the entries, commenting on the photo taking and the maths included in each entry.
Second prize of a voucher to the Cinema was awarded to Glen Craig from 1 Oak for his poster of and Audi car in a car park. First prize of a Tablet was awarded to Chantelle Walsh from 1 Oak for her poster of bathroom tiles reflected in the bathroom mirror. Many congratulations to Glen and Chantelle and indeed to all the 1st Years to entered this competition. Many thanks also to Ciaran and Miriam for judging the competition and presenting the prizes and for their continued help and support to us here in St. Kevin’s.
